The Suzuki Method is based on the way in which children naturally learn language. Sinichi Suzuki noticed how miraculous it is that children effortlessly learn their mother tongue. Why can't they learn music in the same way? Suzuki violin students will experience the benefits of both private and group lessons. Private lessons introduce the gradual steps each student takes to begin playing the violin. Group classes serve to reinforce skills learned at lessons and provide a sense of joining in with others in play. For more program information and tuition details, click here.
Music Prep is now offering group piano lessons for beginners ages 5 and up! In each weekly 45-minute lesson, young ones will enjoy receiving piano preliminaries in a small class with other students their age. Children will gain confidence as their familiarity at the keyboard grows and as they ease into the structure of weekly lessons. This class is appropriate for children who show a strong interest in piano, as well as for the simply curious. All lessons take place in the Keyboard Lab on the first floor of the Schwob School of Music. $55/monthly. Register for the next class by calling 706.641.5124.
Children ages 9-14 are eligible to participate in this active music-making choral experience. An individual, friendly audition is required for placement into the choir. Auditions deal with basic factors such as pitch matching and steady beat.
